Went to the release of DuClaw's new "Mayhem Weizenbok" last night at the Fells Point DuClaw (Arundel Mills being a bit crowded and the bar in Bel Air having caught fire last week). The new weizenbok has a dark color, though not as dark as a standard bok, perhaps lightened by the wheat base. It starts with a marvelous, wheaty flavor, but finishes with a strong, fruity aftertaste that some will like, some will not. I am in the latter category.
My usual brew at DuClaw will probably always be the Bare-Assed Blonde Ale. Cheers!

Scotsman, got to the DuClaw homepage and sign up for their release announcement e-mails...the announcements have instructions for printing off a coupon for any free stuff (t-shirts or cool beer glasses) they're giving away at the release. I'm in my Sawtooth Belgian White release t-shirt even as I type...

Dropped by Fells Point last night for a quick taste of the Twisted Kilt...it has a smokey color, a burly flavor, and a slightly bitter finish...in other words, its a good scotch ale. Very nice!

Did a quick drive-by of Arundel Mills last night to test out the new Mad Bishop Oktoberfest beer...nice dark color, slightly translucent brown...excellent bavarian-tasting start...bitter finish...as usual, if you like this kind of beer, you'll like Mad Bishop...I'm still a pilsner/ale guy...

The rumors of my demise are exagerated...yet again... The Naked Fish was entirely drinkable, if a bit harsh compared to past years...like the t-shirt says..."If Willy Wonka Made Beer"...they needed a better t-shirt slogan this year...

Last weeks Celtic Fury release gave us a nice, smooth tasting dark, better than last years, I think. The t-shirts weren't that obnoxious shadeof OD green like last year, which was another improvement. All in all, in my opinion, it was fit to drink.

LOL I've found I don't care as much for DuClaw's brews.
Then again 1) I've only done the sampler and 2) I don't care for ales for the most part. You can't hardly force me to drink a copperhead ale by Fordham.
Unfortunately most times I go to DuClaw is for lunch and they frown on tiddly accounting type personages where I work moresthefrickinpity
::cheers::

Time to blow the dust off...
The 2009 Mad Bishop release (was that one or two weeks ago now?) saw the release of a very tasty brew...this years Mad Bishop was nice and smokey, with a bit of a hoppy finish I liked. I'd buy it year round!
